The University of Virginia's cybersecurity team took 2nd place in the Virginia Cyber Cup competition. Cyber Fusion is an invitation-only event for the 27 Virginia colleges that are NSA/NHS designated National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD). George Mason University took first place and the College of William and Mary finished third.
In the Virginia Cyber Cup competition, teams tackle problems in scenarios designed to model real-world computer security challenges across a range of categories that includes cryptography, network traffic analysis, reverse engineering, steganography, and more. About 150 undergraduate competitors and alternates, plus their instructors and advisors attend each year.
